Meet Ms. Jen
I’m so glad you’re here!
I’ve always believed that music has the remarkable ability to bring people together. It can help us communicate when we don’t have words, express emotions, create a sense of belonging, and turn an ordinary moment into something joyful and meaningful.
As I’ve grown as a musician, educator, parent, and someone deeply interested in child development, I’ve become especially fascinated by the ways music can support connection and regulation in young children. Babies and toddlers are constantly taking in the world around them, and so much of their early development happens through relationship, rhythm, movement, repetition, and their senses.
That’s at the heart of Little Musicians Atelier.
I want these classes to be more than a place where we sing songs and play instruments. Our classes are a space where parents and little ones can slow down, connect, explore, and experience the simple joy of making music together. Through familiar songs, predictable rhythms, movement, and opportunities for independent exploration, we create an environment that feels both engaging and grounding for little ones—and enjoyable and manageable for their grown-ups.
My own experiences with music have taken me on a journey. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and began my teaching career as an elementary general music teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia. I’ve also taught music in daycare and preschool settings and provided private music lessons to students of all ages.
Before becoming an educator, I had the extraordinary opportunity to serve as a musician in the U.S. Navy Band program. I traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe performing for people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. That experience deepened my belief that music truly belongs to everyone.
Today, I’m deeply passionate about bringing music into the earliest years of life—and making it something families can incorporate organically in their everyday lives. I believe some of the most meaningful musical moments come from the little moments: singing the same song for the hundredth time, bouncing together to a steady beat, watching your baby's face light up when they recognize a familiar melody, or making up a silly song during an ordinary Tuesday morning.
My hope is that you leave Little Musicians Atelier with songs you know by heart, a few new ways to connect with your little one, and the feeling that music doesn't have to be complicated to be meaningful.
